Care and Use
- Unboxing
- Take your new mattress out of the box as soon as possible, it’s been packed tight so it needs to unroll.
- Remove the plastic covering to let it expand. Allow 24-48 hours to reach full size.
- Remove plastic from the outer cover, and zip cover over the mattress.
- Washing the Cover
- Laundering the Cover before first use is optional
- Cover zips off and goes right into washing machine
- Leave the cover zippered during cleaning for best results
- Wash alone to avoid damage to the fabric
- Wash on cold with a mild detergent
- Tumble dry on low heat, Dry thoroughly do not hang dry
- Waterproof Side of Cover
- The side of the cover with the blue waterproof membrane should be used for Toddler years when accidents are more prevalent. The Non-Waterproof side is best used for infants as it promotes the highest amount of breathability.
- Safe on Skin Fire barrier encasement
- Do not attempt to remove, spot clean only
- Use Mild soap and water
- Allow to dry completely before re-covering.
- 2-Stage Mattress Core
- The Mattress core has a label indicating Infant and toddler side.
- Each child is different, so it’s best to check with your pediatrician before transitioning to the toddler side or adding toddler pillows. Our customers typically flip their crib mattresses when their baby is about 12 months old, but your baby might be ready to flip a little sooner or even later.

A: Brilliantly innovative, Octaspring® technology combines the comfort of foam and the responsiveness of a spring. Designed to move independently in three dimensions, the all-foam springs work together to deliver incredible comfort and environmental benefits.
Q: Do you use a flame retardant for the mattress?
A: We do not. Our 100% glass free, chemical free barrier is constructed of natural viscose and polyester. This barrier is safe on skin and GreenGuard Gold certified. Federal Flammability Standards: 16 CFR Parts 1632 and 1633 requires that all crib mattresses pass rigorous burn testing. We comply with these Federal standards without the use of FR chemicals.
Q: Are Pinwheel Sleep products Hypoallergenic?
A: Yes, Pinwheel Sleep mattresses are made of only clean components. As a result of the crib mattresses’ breathability and Octaspring Technology, it naturally keeps moisture and humidity away.
